Overview:
The Director, Strategic Partnerships is a key member of the Product Management teams within Consumer and Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) for Mastercard in Canada. This individual would be responsible for shaping and executing Mastercard's benefit partnership strategy by identifying, securing, and onboarding high-value partners. The role will lead the end-to-end partnership lifecycle, including pipeline development, opportunity evaluation, offer design, and commercial negotiation. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Director will ensure that new benefits are successfully integrated into Mastercard's platform and aligned to product and issuer priorities. This role reports into the Vice President of Consumer Products and plays a critical part in strengthening Mastercard's value proposition through differentiated, scalable, and market-relevant benefits.
Role and Responsibilities:
In this client-facing role, you will:
Identify and source strategic partners that enhance and differentiate Mastercard's cardholder value proposition across Consumer and Small & Medium Enterprise segments
Build and manage a strong pipeline of partnership opportunities across priority benefit areas
Evaluate opportunities and develop business cases to prioritize high-impact partnerships
Design compelling benefit offers aligned to cardholder needs, issuer priorities, and product strategy in partnership with Product
Lead end-to-end partnership execution, including pitching, structuring, negotiation, and contract completion
Coordinate onboarding of partners by defining requirements and working with cross-functional teams to enable integration into Mastercard's benefits platform
Work with the Product Team to develop a standardized benefit performance metric tracking process, leveraging data to inform strategic partnerships roadmap

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of commercial acumen, partnership experience, and strategic product thinking:
Proven experience in partnerships, business development, merchant sourcing, deal-making (payments, travel, lifestyle, or digital ecosystems preferred)
Demonstrated track record of originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing partnership deals
Experience developing customer-facing propositions or products; product management experience is a strong plus
Ability to manage and grow internal and external cross-functional relationships and partnerships with executives at all levels
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to build business cases and evaluate trade-offs
Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, balancing multiple priorities with speed and rigor
High degree of ownership, accountability, and execution focus
Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint, and excellent presentation skills and executive presence
Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
