Position Overview

As Chief Technology Officer, you will serve as the visionary technical leader responsible for defining and executing LightSpeed’s comprehensive technology strategy. You will oversee all technology development, innovation, and intellectual property across robotics, AI/ML, software platforms, and hardware systems. This is a hands-on executive role requiring both strategic vision and deep technical expertise to guide our engineering teams as we scale from early production to mass deployment of construction robotics systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Vision & Strategy
  • Define and execute the long-term technology roadmap aligned with business objectives
  • Drive innovation strategy across robotics, AI/ML, computer vision, and digital fabrication
  • Identify emerging technologies and evaluate strategic partnerships and acquisitions
  • Lead intellectual property strategy, patent development, and competitive advantages
  • Establish technical standards, architecture principles, and best practices across all disciplines
Engineering Leadership
  • Oversee all engineering departments including robotics, software, AI/ML, and hardware
  • Build, lead, and mentor world-class engineering teams across multiple disciplines
  • Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and rapid iteration
  • Establish engineering processes, methodologies, and quality standards for scalable development
Technical Architecture & Innovation
  • Define system architecture for robotics platforms, AI systems, and software infrastructure
  • Drive technical decisions on technology stack, frameworks, and development tools
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and rapid prototyping of breakthrough technologies
  • Establish simulation, testing, and validation methodologies for robotics systems
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with CEO and executive team on strategic planning and business development
  • Collaborate with Operations on production deployment and manufacturing integration
  • Represent technology vision to investors, partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Drive strategic technology partnerships and vendor relationships
Required QualificationsTechnical Expertise
  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership with 8+ years in senior executive roles
  • Deep expertise in robotics, AI/ML, computer vision, or related advanced technologies
  • Proven track record leading technical organizations through rapid scaling (50+ engineers)
  • Strong software and hardware engineering background with hands-on credibility
  • Experience with production robotics, industrial automation, or advanced manufacturing
Leadership & Strategy
  • Demonstrated success setting technology vision and executing multi-year roadmaps
  • Experience building distributed, multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong business acumen aligning technology strategy with business outcomes
  • Track record of innovation, patent development, and IP creation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or related field
  • Published research, patents, or recognized thought leadership in robotics or AI
  • Experience with BIM systems, digital fabrication, or construction automation
  • Previous CTO or VP Engineering experience in hardware/software companies
  • Track record of successful technology exits or IPO experience
